FAQ

Answers to Frequently Asked Questions About Wild Bone Alchemy

  • Where do the bones come from?
The bones are legally foraged from the wild- by us. No animals are ever harmed, no non-ethical systems are supported. We lead conscience and vegan lifestyles. While we are grateful whenever remains are found, we are first attentive to the reality of death and mourn the passing of all creatures. The animal remains are considered sacred, their life is honored through ritual and they are alchemized- reborn- into adornments and altar pieces for the practice and appreciation of earth magic. Decaying skeletons are an important part of the ecology of the forest, so we never take all that we find. Sometimes, people generously donate their findings. This is always indicated in the description.
  • How are the bones cleaned?
The bones are buried to allow the insects and the soil to thoroughly clean them. Then, they are washed, degreased, and gently whitened or stained with natural dye.
  • Can I request a custom adornment or altar piece?
Yes! Please email me with your idea. I can use materials from my collection, or I can alchemize materials provided by you. Creation time will depend on the intricacy of the project, how many other pieces I am working on, and if I am preparing for a festival/market.
  • Do you make Memorial pieces?
Yes! Firstly, I am heartbroken to learn about the loss of your dear one. It is one of the most difficult phases of life to stumble and crawl through. The process for custom work applies: you would send me the sacred remains and we would discuss what materials to use to best capture the essence and memory of your beloved pet.
  • How do I care for my new adornment?
While the pieces are typically made from strong materials like bone, stone, copper, steel- I suggest mindful wearing and would place them in a jewelry box when not in use. The electroform pieces are strong, but remember the objects have been copper plated, they are not solid metal. While the metal components have patinas and curing wax, over time, they can naturally fade.
  • What is the return policy?
Returns are not accepted. However, if there is an issue, please email me and we will work something out.
